Ikigai Circles

I invite you to join a circle

Ikigai circles are cohorts of diverse professionals who together generate individual and collective insight, energy and wisdom to support and fuel the expansion and creation of their best lives as defined by them.

The ikigai framework serves as the basis of the process designed to inspire participants to generate clarity, meaning and purpose as participants proactively design their lives. Your circle will inspire and propel you toward your commitments while helping you fulfill them with bold actions.

What is ikigai?

In the culture of Okinawa, ikigai is thought of as “a reason to get up in the morning;” that is, a reason to enjoy life. In Dan Buettner’s TED talk, ikigai is proposed as one of the reasons Okinawans have such long lives.

"At a point in my career where I was seeking more but not entirely clear on what "more" meant, this course was timely, on-point and clarifying. I've had unexpected a-ha moments that have helped me prioritize aspects of my career looking ahead. We're not done yet with the course, but I'm already feeling sad about not having this monthly jolt of self-reflection and insight.”

Each intimate group is facilitated by me as a professional coach who will join you on your personal journeys as we explore, discover, and clarify how to think about where you are versus where you want to be and generate an inspiring plan for getting there. You will be exposed to  new tools, coaching (one-on-one and group), peer-to-peer mentoring, and enjoy the fruits of a dedicated investment in yourself.

These groups are created for a diversity of professionals who are experiencing or planning for inevitable life transitions including but not limited to:

  • Career: advancement, pivots, and transformation

  • Caregiving: parenting, eldercare, and empty nesting

  • Wellbeing: self-care, relationship balance, and graceful aging

  • Legacy: building & planning

Course Structure & Content

生き甲斐 – ‘a reason for being’

My role as facilitator and coach is to create a unique environment of support, confidentiality, and trust to safely explore your current situation and goals. We use the ikigai framework to identify alignment or opportunities for transformation in four quadrants:
  1. What you are good at

  2. What you love

  3. What the world needs

  4. What you get paid to do (or what you want to get paid to do)

The ikigai framework is a powerful and effective lens to explore your life journey (yesterday, today and tomorrow) while making connections between your current professional role or situation and your true calling, which is grounded in your passions and reason for being.

Once you have clearly articulated your personal mission and how it relates to your professional and personal commitments and passions, you will be able to establish simple yet meaningful goals and courageous commitments, while creating clear action plans to achieve them.

Along the way, the group will explore provocative questions: Where are you unstoppable?  Where do you sell out on yourself? Where are you comfortable with being uncomfortable? Do you have secret or latent aspirations? Where are you mindful, content, at peace?

"I lived my life by optimizing everything around productivity and efficiency. After discovering my ikigai, I live my life by optimizing around joy and contribution. I experience joy every day while I am achieving my personal and professional goals. You, too, can discover your reason for being so it can fuel your personal definition of success.”
